About the Maltipoo
Big personality, small package
Maltipoos are livelier than people expect. They are playful well into old age, quick to learn tricks, and genuinely funny dogs to live with. They are also more vocal than a Cavapoo — they will tell you someone is at the door, and if that is not managed early it can tip into a habit.
The good news is that a bright dog that loves food is an easy dog to train out of nuisance barking, provided you start young and stay consistent.
Coat care is the real commitment
The Maltese coat is fine and silky, and crossed with Poodle curl it can mat faster than any other coat we raise. Maltipoos need brushing several times a week and grooming every 4–6 weeks rather than 6–8.
Many owners settle on a short "puppy cut" — it looks charming, it is far easier to maintain, and it is much kinder in Texas heat.
Small dog, real care needs
Toy-sized puppies can be prone to low blood sugar in their first months, so frequent meals matter early on. Dental care matters lifelong — small mouths crowd teeth, and dental disease is the most common preventable health problem in small breeds. Brush their teeth; it adds years.
