Bred for centuries to be a companion, and it shows.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppies for Sale in Texas

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has one job in its history and one job now: to be with people. They are sweet-natured, adaptable and almost comically friendly — a Cavalier greets burglars and grandmothers with identical enthusiasm.

About the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The most adaptable temperament we know

Cavaliers slot into almost any household. They will hike if you hike and nap if you nap. They get on with other dogs, with cats, with children and with strangers, and they carry almost no guarding instinct at all — which makes them a wonderful companion and a useless watchdog.

Honest talk about health and shedding

Two things separate Cavaliers from the doodle crosses on this site. First, they do shed — the silky coat is beautiful, but it is not a low-allergen coat, so if allergies are your reason for shopping, look at a Cavapoo instead.

Second, the breed carries well-documented heart risk (mitral valve disease) and neurological risk (syringomyelia). Cardiac screening of parent dogs matters enormously here, and so does annual veterinary follow-up for the life of the dog. We would rather tell you that plainly up front than have you learn it at year five.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel questions

The things families actually ask us before they choose a cavalier king charles spaniel.

All puppy FAQs

No. Cavaliers have a silky coat that sheds moderately. If you need a low-shedding dog, a Cavapoo gives you a very similar temperament with a doodle coat.

Typically $2,000–$3,000 from breeders who perform cardiac and other health screening on the parent dogs.

Exceptionally. They are gentle, patient and sturdy enough for family life, with essentially no aggression in the breed standard.

The breed is predisposed to mitral valve heart disease and syringomyelia. Buying from a breeder who screens parent dogs — particularly cardiac clearances — and keeping up annual vet checks are the two things most within your control.
